Emperor X - Erica Western Teleport
Chad is Emperor X. Emperor X is Chad. Chad is from the nearest Greyhound Bus station and eats really disgusting-looking vegan hotdogs. Chad travels across the United States playing his songs throughout the year and works on comedian Rita Rudner’s website in his spare time.
This song is called Erica Western Teleport. This song is desperately repetitive, the kind of desperate repetition you say to yourself in the throes of a vicious break-up. “Don’t think of her, don’t think of her, don’t think of her, don’t think of her, go get some exercise”. The lyrics are rather specific and cryptic but that decisive specificity reminds you of the cryptic and specific aspects of your own past break-ups. It’s that thing that sits in the back of your head where you know you’ll never TOTALLY get over it, and that you’ll always carry around something from that old relationship, and that no matter how much you explan and pontificate about the break-up, no one will truly understand it. It’s captured in perfect song-form here.
There’s also references to Battlestar Galactica in the song, so that’s cool too.
I went on tour with Chad in September and he is a truly amazing human being, a rare example of someone who has decided to take something that he loves to do, and just fucking doing it.
